To make sure I would be able to climb Huayna Picchu, I was waiting at the bus stop at 5am. I evenutally got on the 5th bus so potentially there were 200 people in front of me. You still have to walk through MP after getting your ticket and I arrived at the gate ready for the climb at 6.15am.... more

At almost 57 years old, I am excited to say that "I made it!" My 36 year old daughter took off at the fork in the trail and went to the Temple of the Moon. She met me at the top for the breath-taking view and the careful trip back down to the trailhead. What a fantastic trek! more

definitely worth the hike up. Not too challenging if you like going up lots of stairs at as about a steep angle before they'd be ladders. You should go no later than 9 am to be sure to get in, then enjoy the Macchu Pichu ruins afterwards. If you are in average shape it will take you no more than... more

Machu Picchu at sunrise is absolutely amazing. You could see the sun rays over the Andes and light the ruin. It is definitely breathtaking. We took the train from Cuzco to Aguas Calientes instead of hiking. The train ride itself was an experience. We actually had to go forward and backward up the mountain since Cuzco is in the valley... more

This climb is a bit more rigorous than most of the Inca Trail. And the reward at the top is big. If you ever wanted a panorama or stich-assist function on a camera... this is it!!! But, keep in mind that if you only have one day in Machu Picchu, you might want to start Huayna Picchu early so you... more

If you want to see Machu Picchu a unique way, you must get there early for your visit of the site and go climb Huayna Picchu. Access to the mountain is limited to a couple hundred a day, so be sure to get to the far end of the site of Machu Picchu first. The view is incredible. more

The view from the top is well worth the effort of the climb, and be prepared for some considerable effort. It is very steep and narrow in places and if you have a fear of heights then please consider this carefully. Also make sure you take your time on the way up to savour the views as they are breathtaking,... more

Climbing Huayna Picchu was the highlight of the visit. You must know that only 400 people are allowed to climb daily, whereas 3000 people gain entry to MP daily. We arrived at the check-in area at 7 AM and the 7 AM climb group was full. We were among the first in the 10 AM group. That is the last... more

We were told this was a walk in the park and not very difficult at all. Don't believe it! It had rained the previous night so the trail was very slippery in places. The altitude and the steepness of the trail made for some difficult hiking but with frequent rest stops it was manageable. Steel cables anchored to the cliff... more

hiking to the top of Huayna Picchu was the hightlight of our trip to Peru. The view of Macchu Picchu from the summit is awesome. One warning...if you are afraid of heights, think twice. Some parts of the trail are very narrow and it is a long way down. But well worth the effort. more
